What is a Sober Coach/Companion?
A sober coach is an individual who will provide compassion to the Alcoholic/Addict on a one-on-one basis. We provide accountability in a safe, fun, and comfortable sober environment. The majority of our clients prefer to become sober in a location close to their home. This is quite helpful to the addict because their families, who will play an integral role in their recovery, can participate. The sober coach will additionally provide assistance to the client’s family members and friends. Addiction is a family disease. It is important that we address the multitude of family problems that have erupted over the years from loving a person who is fighting addiction. Outside therapists who focus on family dynamics are often helpful to the success of every individual’s recovery process.
Components of a Sober Coach

- The sober companion pinpoints and then addresses the individual’s specific needs and problems within the client’s family, community and life.
- When the client has completed the initial days of withdrawal from their drug of choice, it is imperative, the coach and client remain busy and productive throughout the day. The coach will assist in setting both short term and long term goals. Just as important is the introduction of activities that the client used to enjoy! For example, surfing, biking, golfing, skating, kayaking, or tennis. The coach will assist the addict in locating appropriate meetings that will prove beneficial in assisting the client build a sober community of support.

Coaching You Through Your Legal Problems
- Regardless of your legal problems, our staff will provide a safe environment/lifestyle. If you are between court cases, or on probation or bail, we will keep you safe and protected as long as necessary. The only condition is that you stay active in your recovery and remain abstinent from all mind altering substances.
Sober Coaching through Withdrawal
- While the client withdrawals, the sober companion, who has personally experienced this process, will be with the client through every moment. If the client chooses not to withdrawal "cold-turkey," we work with a physician who specializes in addiction. He will provide the patient with the appropriate treatment plan to make the process as painless as humanly possible.
Recovery with a Personal Sober Coach
- Unlike sober livings, inpatient and outpatient treatment centers, a Personal Sober Coach makes getting and staying clean and sober fun, educational and effective. One on one services avoids the drama that usually comes with many addicts and alcoholics going through recovery and treatment in one facility. A Personal Sober Coach/Sober Companion combines the resources and education of a treatment center, yet incorporates an individual process of recovery to make the experience enjoyable for the recovering addict or alcoholic. Unlike rehabilitation treatment centers, a Personal Sober Coach adds activities and events tailored specifically to the clients hobbies. Our goal is to coach the client through recovery with quality methods comparing to, if not surpassing, drug rehabilitation centers.
Detoxification with a Sober Companion/Sober Coach
- The use of a Sober Coach/Sober Companion is an amazingly effective form of drug and alcohol detoxification, when compared to rehabilitation treatment centers. Not only does a Sober Coach/Sober Companion stay with the client throughout their entire detoxification process; but, they will coach specifically on recovery. They will provide education on the individual process of detoxification, depending on the addiction the client is suffering from. Additionally, the Sober Coach/Sober Companion has an addiction doctor that they will introduce to their client. The purpose of the addiction doctor is so that he/she and the Sober Coach/Sober Companion create an individual plan for the client’s detoxification. If the client is detoxing from heroin, for example, the addiction doctor would most likely prescribe the client Suboxone and an antidepressant to fight the withdrawals from heroin. Though the Sober Companion/Sober Coach will not give or handle the client’s medication, he/she will supervise the client when they take them, and be with the client through the detoxification process to ensure a safe environment free of drugs and alcohol.
